Alice Fleerackers is an award-winning researcher and freelance writer whose work has appeared in the Globe and Mail, the National Post, Salon, and Nautilus, among other outlets. She is a researcher at the ScholCommLab and a doctoral candidate at Simon Fraser University, where she studies how and why journalists report on preprints (un-peer reviewed studies). She has also studied topics such as the medialisation of science, the goals that motivate science artists’ work, and the amplification of emerging science on social media. This year, she launched a podcast called Telling Science Stories, which features interviews with science communication experts about the many different ways to make science accessible.

Alice has served on PCST’s scientific committee as a member of the social media/web committee. She is also a Director on the Board of the Science Writers and Communicators of Canada and has volunteered with Science Borealis and Art the Science.
