The PCST Network invites proposals for its 19th biennial conference, PCST 2027, taking place in Shanghai, China, from 24 to 27 May 2027.
The submission portal opened on 10 August 2026, with proposals invited under the overarching conference theme Science Communication for a Shared Future: Engage, Empower, Enlighten.
PCST 2027 will mark the first time that a PCST Conference is hosted in mainland China, bringing the global science communication community together in Shanghai, a historic international hub where ideas, cultures and futures have long converged.
PCST Conferences provide a shared space to explore the evolving relationship between science and society, exchange research and practice, and strengthen connections across the international science communication community. We welcome participants at every career stage, from all regions of the world and across the many sectors and disciplines involved in science communication.
Presentation formats
For PCST 2027, the presentation formats have been updated slightly from previous conferences. Proposals are invited in six formats:
- Individual Talks – academic and research-based presentations
- Practice Insights – presentations focused on science communication practice and professional experience
- Lightning Talks – short, focused presentations
- Discussions and Debates – interactive sessions designed to explore different perspectives
- Artistic Performances – creative and artistic approaches to science communication
- Workshops – participatory sessions focused on learning, skills development and exchange
Submitters of Individual Talks and Practice Insights may also choose to have their proposal considered for a Lightning Talk if it is not accepted in their preferred format. Selecting this option will have no impact on the review of the original proposal.

5 April 2027: Presenter registration deadline for inclusion in the programme
19 April 2027: General delegate registration deadline
