The PCST Network is inviting bids from organisations and groups interested in hosting the PCST 2031 Conference, continuing the Network’s long tradition of bringing the international science communication community together in different parts of the world.
PCST Conferences are held every two years and provide a global forum for researchers, practitioners, educators and others working in the public communication of science and technology to share research and practice, exchange ideas and strengthen international connections.
The 2031 conference will follow PCST 2027, taking place in Shanghai, China, from 24 to 27 May 2027, and PCST 2029, which will be held in Mexico City, Mexico.
Hosting a PCST Conference
Organisations bidding to host PCST 2031 will need to demonstrate their capacity to organise and deliver a major international conference for 400 to 800 or more delegates.
Bids should demonstrate broad support from science and science communication organisations in the proposed host country, identify a suitable and accessible conference venue, and provide an indicative budget and information about the proposed local organising team.
PCST is committed to encouraging broad international participation in its conferences. Bidding organisations should therefore also outline how they would support participation by delegates from the Global South and disadvantaged communities, including opportunities to raise funds for conference bursaries.
Proposals for social events and opportunities for delegates to experience the host city and country are also encouraged.
Bids will be considered by the PCST Scientific Committee during the PCST 2027 Conference in Shanghai.
Groups submitting bids will be invited to present their proposals to the Scientific Committee on 24 May 2027 and answer questions from Committee members.

Continuing a global tradition
Since the first international meeting in Poitiers, France, in 1989, PCST Conferences have brought the science communication community together in locations around the world. Hosting PCST 2031 offers an opportunity to welcome this international community, showcase science communication in the host country and region, and contribute to the continuing development of the field worldwide.
