12 May 2026 | 14:00 CET
We are pleased to invite PCST members to the second PCST barcamp, taking place on 12 May at 14:00 CET.
This session will build directly on three recent webinars, opening space to continue the discussion, explore new angles, and dive deeper into key themes in science communication:
- Running a successful small business in science communication (Brendon Bosworth, Human Element Communications)
- Connecting the local to the global (Dr Swati Bute, Jagran Lakecity University, and Emma Gill, PCST Teaching Forum and UWA)
- Science communication and AI (Mohamed Elsonbaty Ramadan, trainer in AI for science communication and journalism)
For those unfamiliar with the format, a barcamp is often described as an “anti-conference.” After a short introduction, participants are invited to propose discussion topics. These are then voted on by the audience, and the most popular sessions form a dynamic programme, held in breakout rooms. The event concludes with a shared reflection on key insights from each group.
We encourage all participants, not only the webinar speakers, to come prepared with ideas for discussion. There is plenty of room to expand on the themes introduced in the webinars, whether by bringing new perspectives or by exploring open questions. You do not need to be an expert to propose a session: raising a question or sharing uncertainty is just as valuable as offering expertise.
The PCST barcamp is open to members only.
