A delegation from the PCST Scientific Committee, led by PCST President Fabien Medvecky, visited Shanghai from 21 to 23 May to review preparations for the PCST 2027 Conference.
The visit commenced on the evening of 21 May with a cruise on the Huangpu River, which is being considered as a cultural activity for conference participants in 2027.
On 22 May, the delegation conducted a site inspection of the proposed conference venue, assessing its capacity, layout, facilities, and accessibility. Following detailed discussions, the delegation confirmed that the venue is well suited to hosting PCST 2027.
Later that day, the delegation visited Shanghai Jiao Tong University’s Minhang Campus, where they met with the university team to discuss conference planning and opportunities for future collaboration. The visit also included a tour of the university’s history museum.
On 23 May, President Fabien Medvecky participated in the Shanghai Science Festival at the Shanghai Science Museum. He joined the festival’s “Science Red Carpet” ceremony, delivered a keynote address, and joined local officials in launching the one-year countdown to PCST 2027. The museum is also expected to host the conference’s flagship “Science Night” event.
The visit concluded with a meeting between the PCST delegation and the Local Organising Committee (LOC), during which key planning and operational arrangements were reviewed and confirmed.
Preparations for PCST 2027 are progressing smoothly, with close collaboration between PCST and its local partners. Both sides remain committed to delivering an engaging, impactful, and memorable conference for the global science communication community.
