I am currently the Director of Scientific Sensitization and Science Communication at the Secretariat of Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of Pernambuco and the Vice President of the Brazilian Network of Science Journalists and Communicators. I am also a professor of Social Communications undergraduate course at the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), and professor in the Postgraduate Program in Communication at Federal University of Paraíba, both institutions located in Northeastern Brazil. I was a visiting scholar in the Department of Communication at Cornell University from March 2019 to March 2021. In 2004, I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in social communications with specialization in Journalism from the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil. I also hold a master’s degree in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communications from Pompeu Fabra University (2007), the same institution where I obtained a PhD in Public Communications in 2012.
