PCST 2025

27 – 29 May 2025, Aberdeen, Scotland

The 18th international conference of the Public Communication of Science and Technology network took place from 27–29 May 2025 in Aberdeen, Scotland.

The University of Aberdeen hosted the conference, bringing together science communication professionals and researchers from around the globe.

The conference centred on the theme: “Using Science Communication to effect positive change: exploring transitions, traditions and tensions”. The theme explored transitions (change versus stability), traditions (the old, current, and the new), and tensions (dispute versus consensus) that influence all of our work as science communicators.

In the context of our climate emergency, global health imperatives such as food and water security, and poverty alleviation, PCST came together in 2025 to discuss how science communication could—and should—be used to positive effect in our changing world.
