In 2022, Marlit Hayslett founded Hayslett Consulting, a science communication coaching and training practice. She helps scientists and scholars share their research with non-specialist audiences, including the public, media, industry, and policymakers. She offers online courses, workshops, and coaching, and is currently working on a book about succeeding in graduate research competitions like Falling Walls and Three Minute Thesis.

Previously, Marlit taught research communication at the University of Virginia, coaching over 1,000 PhD students. Earlier, she was the founding director of the Office of Policy Analysis and Research at the Georgia Tech Research Institute, where her team analyzed U.S. state-level science and technology policy.

Marlit holds degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology (B.S. and M.S. in International Affairs, M.S. in Public Policy) and a PhD from the University of Georgia. Her research explores how science is communicated to inform public policy, particularly in international contexts.
