Dr Zhaozhang Sun is an ESRC-funded Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Xi’an Jiaotong University. Her research focuses on health communication, behavioural science and diabetes prevention and management. She holds a PhD from King’s College London, where her work – soon to be published as a monograph by Routledge – titled “Influencers in Health Communication: Diabetes Dialogue and Online Narratives”.

Dr Sun has published extensively, with 14 peer-reviewed papers and presentations delivered at national and international conferences. She has also played an integral role in large-scale, policy-oriented research initiatives, including translating the World Obesity Atlas (2024 and 2025 editions) into Chinese, and facilitating the dissemination of critical public health data to Chinese policymakers and practitioners. Her career is marked by a commitment to developing scalable interventions, enhancing health equity, and contributing substantively to public health policy and practice both in the UK and internationally.
