The PCST Network is proud to have presented a safe and successful PCST 2016 conference that was attended in Istanbul last month by 300 people from over 40 countries.
Our Turkish hosts facilitated a friendly atmosphere and provided efficient organisation that made for an enjoyable and productive experience. They did not allow late changes to the programme to affect the smooth running of the conference.
Over 200 papers, posters, panels, performances and workshops were presented by participants from across the world. Presenters will be advised soon on uploading papers that will be added to the growing archive of items from earlier conferences.
Three posters were selected as ‘best in show’ and their presenters were awarded no-fee registration for the next PCST conference (4-6 April 2018) in Dunedin, New Zealand. These winners were Guoyan Wang (China), Robert Inglis (South Africa) and Sofia Otero (Chile).
The hosts of the Dunedin conference presented ‘Science, Stories and Society – the Soul of Science Communication’ as their theme. They have invited everyone interested in the conference to register their interest on the PCST 2018 web site.
During the Istanbul conference a well-attended PCST members’ meeting endorsed a call to increase the membership world-wide. The meeting was told of a new benefit to PCST members, a 37.5 per cent discount on the individual print subscription to the journal, Public Understanding of Science.
In elections to the PCST Scientific Committee, eight new members joined the group of 28.
